Italy – Chioggia – the Fish Market

One of the last plein air painting I did, luckily in a wonderful place, Chioggia (Venice) The subject is the traditional fish market, in the historical city center. I painted it in the afternoon when It was already cleaned from the morning activity.

Sitting there I got to know also the story of the place thanks to the tourist guides ( in German and then Italian, lucky me I understand 😉

The fish market was not planned originally in this place, a school for children was supposed to be there, then a child died and the city decided not to build the school.

The marmor sculpture are there to remember the sad event.

Funny instead two children wanted to give me 5 cent while I was painting sitting on the steps, probably a sign I need to review my outdoor painting outfit …
